Built in 1869 by a tobacco merchant, it’s now a beloved community gathering place and venue for weddings, events, cultural programming, and neighborhood celebrations. No, the House is not open to the public on a regular basis, but we often host neighborhood events and community gatherings that are open to the public and include tours of the House. See our Events page for what’s coming up.

Yes! We welcome photography sessions for engagements, family portraits, prom, graduation, and more outside on the grounds if there are no other events taking place at the House. No, we work exclusively with our in-house caterer, Clementine Catering, for all food and beverage service at the House. They can craft menus for any occasion or style event.

Our venue can hold approximately 100 guests for a plated meal inside, or 80 with a buffet style meal inside, and an outdoor tented event can host up to 400 guests. We’ll help you plan the best layout for your event.

Yes. The House is owned and maintained by the Peterson Dumesnil House Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that to works to maintain and preserve the historic home and grounds for future generations to enjoy.
